The first Module “Environment policy & Regulation” was conducted during 26th Sep. – 30th Sep.2016.The Module Coordinators for this program were Dr.Prasad Modak (Director EMC), Adv.Pravartak Pathak (Adv. Bombay High Court).MS Lucille Andrade (EMC LLP).
At the outset Dr Prasad Modak, Director Environment Management Centre introduced the concept of sustainable development, ecosystem services and natural resources along with the associated environmental issues like climate change to set the context. Experts from Maharashtra Pollution control Board, National Green Tribunal , NGOS and Corporate sectors interacted with the participants on several topics related to environmental law and National Environmental policy, rules and regulations related to air and water pollution, land use Requisition and Rehabilitation (LARR) ,waste management, CRZ , environmental clearance , Market based mechanisms etc. during this five day program .
Adv. Raghunath Mahabal engaged participants in his lucid lectures on evolution of environmental law through several case studies. Adv Uday Warunjikar , Adv Sadhana Mahashabde presented the legal remedies for environmental protection and elaborated the role of National Green Tribunal through several case studies.
A panel of CSR experts in major industries like Tata Thermal power plant, Jindal Steel and Mahindra and Mahindra was invited to discuss their initiatives towards sustainability.
